Mémé Belle has been on the market since December 2024. However, the journey there began about two years earlier. My grandma and I spent over a year tinkering, experimenting, and developing various recipes – purely for the joy of it and without any intention of ever launching an aperitif.

Our family, friends, and acquaintances repeatedly tasted the first creations and were so enthusiastic that the idea eventually arose to turn our shared hobby into something more. This was followed by another year in which we took care of everything that transforms a recipe into a brand – from logo and corporate design to trademark law, as well as bottle, label, and bottling.

The inspiration came from my grandmother, who was 91 at the time. She told me about her time as a young woman, when she worked in a pharmacy and, on the side, made her own liqueurs to earn a little extra money. These stories fascinated me and sparked the desire to stand in the kitchen with her and revive her passion for making liqueurs.

What started as a shared hobby gradually developed into our heartfelt project: Mémé Belle. I was able to learn from her knowledge, her experience, and her high standards of quality. We never planned that our joint experiments would one day result in our own aperitif. But the enthusiasm of family, friends, and acquaintances ultimately encouraged us to take the next step.

For over a year, our kitchen became our little development lab. We experimented with a wide variety of botanicals, tested numerous recipes, and constantly gathered feedback from family and friends. To try out different flavors without having to constantly create new batches, we initially worked with individual aromas.

The time spent with my grandmother was particularly special. On weekends, we would go shopping together at organic markets, because for her, it was natural to use only the best ingredients. We weighed, measured, sifted through coffee filters, and carefully documented every change. Every recipe was recorded down to the smallest detail. This time was not only educational but also full of special memories that continue to shape Mémé Belle to this day.

The biggest challenge actually only began after we decided to launch our own aperitif. We quickly realized how many topics suddenly confronted us: from developing a logo and a website to trademark law and finding a suitable bottler.

It was particularly important to us to find a partner who shared our commitment to quality and would implement production with the same care with which we developed our first recipes. This journey was demanding, but it taught us a lot and made Mémé Belle what it is today.

My grandma is incredibly proud of Mémé Belle and one of its biggest supporters. She enjoys drinking the aperitif herself, accompanies me to events, and always fascinates people with her story.

It's especially wonderful that she is still an active part of the project today. If you order online from us and select the "pickup" option, you collect your order directly from my grandma. Being part of a young beverage start-up at over 90 years old is certainly not a given. All the more beautiful it is to see how much joy, energy, and enthusiasm she continues to bring to it.

Mémé Belle is much more than just an aperitif. In addition to its unique history, there's a lot of passion in every single bottle. From the very beginning, it was clear to us that only high-quality ingredients and exclusively natural flavors would be considered.

The taste of Mémé Belle is primarily characterized by strawberry, raspberry, thyme, and basil. The interplay of fruity and spicy notes creates an extraordinary taste experience that is neither too sweet nor too tart.

However, it's not just the taste that makes Mémé Belle special. From the ingredients to the bottle and the label, every detail has been developed with great care and a high standard of quality. It is precisely this combination of quality, craftsmanship, and a genuine family history that makes Mémé Belle unique.

There were many special moments along our shared journey. One of the most emotional moments was certainly when we held our own bottle in our hands for the first time. After all the months of tinkering, tasting, and improving, an idea suddenly became reality.

Equally unforgettable are the many tastings I was able to experience with my grandma. Trying new creations together, discussing nuances of taste, and step by step developing the perfect recipe are among the fondest memories of this journey.
